The Night

Ryan's Bar is a traditional town-centre pub tucked down the passage beside St Peter's Church in Derby's St Peter's Quarter, and its open mic runs every Thursday from 8pm. It's a friendly live-music local — music most nights Wednesday to Saturday — with a PA and drum kit on hand, so it suits full-band turns as well as solo acoustic players. Free to play, free to watch; just turn up and sign on the night. 56 St Peters Street, Derby, DE1 1SN.

About Ryans Bar

Ryan's Bar is a traditional Irish-themed bar in Derby's St Peters Quarter at 56 St Peter's Street, and a genuine grassroots music room — James Morrison was famously discovered playing here. It's an intimate space, so gigs have a close, magic-in-the-room quality. Live music runs four nights a week (Wednesday through Saturday), and there's an open-mic every Wednesday from 8pm that's open to all comers. A PA and house drum kit are on hand, and the bar leans acoustic, folk and singer-songwriter. A daily lunchtime food menu (including hefty beef roasts) rounds out the offer.

Planning Your Wednesday Night
