I've been in live music since 2009, on stage and trying to get booked. I know the Instagram DM chases, the WhatsApp fee haggling, the deposits sent on nothing but a handshake. Ask anyone — a venue filling a Friday, a promoter building a lineup, an agent running a roster — it's the same scattered story, decades old.

GigXchange exists because I got tired of waiting for someone to fix it. Whether you play, run a room, book acts or put on events, you deserve to be found by the right people and to book properly, start to finish. No middlemen deciding who gets the gig. No gatekeepers. Just a level playing field where the right people meet.

GigXchange is a marketplace and a research desk. Every report is free to read, free to cite under CC BY 4.0, and built from the same UK live music data the platform runs on.

Beyond the reports: the live numbers run all day on our statistics pages — the full UK market statistics sheet, gig pay measured in pints on the Pint Index, the fee taken apart on Gig Pay Anatomy, Britain’s free stage counted on open mic statistics, and when-and-where the UK gigs on the gig calendar. The engine behind it all is the GX Index, published monthly in the report library.

Who built GIGXCHANGE?

GigXchange was founded by Naumaan, a UK guitarist since 2009 — covers, originals, writing, producing. He built GigXchange because the UK live music booking process was scattered across Instagram DMs, WhatsApp groups and bank transfers with nothing but a handshake, and decided to fix it himself. Why GIGXCHANGE instead of a traditional booking agency?

Traditional UK agencies typically take 15–30% commission, gatekeep access to venues, and depend on who-you-know networks. GigXchange is peer-to-peer: artists, venues, promoters and agents book directly, free to use with a 5% fee only for protected payments — no commission on your fee, no hidden algorithms, no pay-to-win visibility. Is GIGXCHANGE UK-only?

Yes, currently UK-only. 645 members — 544 artists, 49 venues, plus agents and promoters — across 71 UK cities are live so far. All members must be UK-based to list and book. International expansion is on the roadmap but not dated.

What does it cost to use GIGXCHANGE?

Free to join, free to list, free to browse. The only charge is optional: a 5% protected-payment fee, where the deposit is held safely until the gig is done — settle privately and there is no charge at all. No monthly subscription, no listing fee.

Who is GIGXCHANGE for?

Four user types: artists (bands, solo acts, DJs), venues (pubs, clubs, hotels, festivals), booking agents (representing rosters of artists), and promoters (organising events across venues). Every type gets tailored features but shares the same booking, contract, messaging and payment flow.

How does GIGXCHANGE feature its members?

GigXchange Member Spotlight is the platform’s editorial series — a fortnightly long-form interview with one UK artist, venue, agent or promoter. Each member walks away with a 1,500-word piece at their own URL, an A4 press-kit PDF, a 1200×630 OG share card and a Spotlight badge they can use anywhere. Free, members only, no paid placement. Worth £400+ at PR-agency rates.

How are payments handled?

All payments go through Stripe. When a booking is confirmed, the deposit is held securely by the platform. Funds are released automatically to the performer 5 days after the gig date. No chasing invoices, no cash on the night, full audit trail. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified — GigXchange never sees or stores card data.

How is my data protected?

GigXchange is UK GDPR compliant and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ref ZC132441). All traffic runs over 256-bit TLS. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 certified) — GigXchange never sees or stores card data. See the full privacy policy.
