The Night
Under the Hammer is a characterful basement bar on North Silver Street, an Aberdeen institution for over 40 years, and its weekly Tuesday open mic from 8pm is a firm favourite. It's free and open to anyone who can play, recite or perform — you get around three songs or 15 minutes, and there's a free drink behind the bar for every performer. It's a public bar, so strictly 18+.
About Under the Hammer
Under the Hammer is a basement bar on North Silver Street in Aberdeen's West End, a local institution of over 40 years that reopened in November 2021 after a stylish refurbishment. It hosts a weekly open-mic night every Tuesday from 8pm — a house PA and vocal mics are provided, with performers bringing their own instruments and amps. The intimate, candlelit cellar welcomes both original material and covers across acoustic, folk and singer-songwriter styles, making it one of central Aberdeen's most characterful grassroots music spots.
