The Night
The Actors is a much-loved, all-inclusive LGBTQ+ community pub in Kemptown that has been a cornerstone of the neighbourhood since 1974. Its free music open mic runs every Sunday from 7pm to 10pm — sign-up opens at 7pm with performances kicking off at 7:30pm — and it's open to hobbyist and pro musicians alike, drawing a warm, diverse crowd. (The pub also hosts a separate friendly queer poetry open mic in its intimate side-bar lounge.) Walk in, add your name to the sheet, and enjoy a relaxed night of varied acts.
About The Actors
The Actors is a community pub at 4 Princes Street in Kemptown, Brighton (East Sussex), that has been a cornerstone of its neighbourhood since 1974 and is a proudly all-inclusive, LGBTQ+-friendly space. Alongside Caribbean food from The Caribbean Kitchen Brighton and a cosy fireplace, it runs a packed events calendar — theatre in its own performance space, pub quizzes, DJ nights, life drawing and more. For musicians the draw is the free weekly open mic every Sunday, 7pm-10pm, with sign-up from 7pm and performances kicking off at 7.30pm; each week showcases a range of acts and is open to hobbyists, professionals and anyone who just wants a night of varied live music.
