The Night
The Rum Shack is a Caribbean bar, kitchen and venue on Glasgow's Southside, and its weekly open mic runs every Wednesday from 8pm in the dancehall, hosted by Kenneth Noah Blair (Noah & The West River Band) and Julen Santamaria (Awkward Family Portraits). Entry is free and the night is over-18s only. It's a warm, music-led room with a beer garden out back — Glasgow has one of the UK's strongest open-mic scenes and this is a friendly fixture for solo songwriters and acts of all kinds. The Rum Shack is Glasgow's original Caribbean bar, kitchen and live-music venue at 657–659 Pollokshaws Road in the Southside (Strathbungo/Pollokshaws), G41 2AB — a much-loved grassroots room with a covered beer garden, a busy gig calendar and a reputation for reggae, world, folk and roots nights. Alongside its ticketed live shows, DJs and comedy, it runs a weekly open mic on Wednesdays, hosted by Kenneth Noah Blair (Noah & The West River Band) and Julen Santamaria (Awkward Family Portraits).
