The Gardeners Rest is a community-owned pub on Neepsend Lane in Sheffield, bought out by over 400 regulars in 2017 to become the city's first community-owned pub. It's a genuine grassroots music hub: local artists play live every Thursday and Saturday, with a music policy that leans folk, acoustic, americana and blues, plus a popular Sunday quiz. The pub spreads across three rooms - a main lounge that doubles as a rotating art gallery, a non-smoking snug, and a conservatory that opens onto a beer garden overlooking the River Don. There's also a cosy 'Dram Shop' with a restored bar billiards table. More than a pub, it runs charitable work providing employment and meeting space for vulnerable adults and people with learning difficulties.
