The Bedford is a landmark Grade II-listed live-music pub at 77 Bedford Hill, Balham, south London (SW12 9HD) — built in 1931, restored in a multi-million-pound refurbishment, and home to the celebrated domed Globe Theatre and Club Room stages. Its long-running 'Live at The Bedford' series runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8pm, showcasing the UK's finest emerging and established musical talent; the in-house gigs are free but ticketed in advance to guarantee a seat, with walk-in availability too. The Bedford has a storied history of breaking new artists (Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith and James Morrison all played early shows here) and an attentive, listening-room crowd. This is a curated showcase booking room with full PA and in-house sound rather than a turn-up walk-on open mic. Confirmed open and actively programming through 2026.

Sign-up process

What to expect
London open-mic crowds skew 25-40 and listen attentively — this isn't a chatter-over-the-music pub mic. Solo songwriters, duos and acoustic acts work best given the gear set-up; full bands should ask the host before turning up.
