About This Open Mic
The Night
The Victoria Inn — 'a proper pub' on North Station Road — runs a Wednesday-night open mic every week except the first Wednesday of the month. Sign-up starts at 7:30pm, the mic goes live around 8pm and the night wraps about 10:45; you usually get two or three songs (up to about 15 minutes, depending on numbers). No pre-booking — just turn up. Bring your own instruments or borrow what's there: guitar, piano, cajon and mics are all provided, alongside the PA. Friendly, no-pressure, all about drinking, chatting and good music.
About Victoria Inn
The Victoria Inn is an independent freehouse at 10 North Station Road in Colchester, on the main road up to the North railway station, prized for its real ale and its grassroots live-music programme. Sunday evenings from 5.30pm bring live music — usually folk, blues and acoustic, and often touring artists — while an open-mic night runs most Wednesdays (every Wednesday except the first of the month). A good range of cask ales, lagers, ciders and wines, a decent beer garden with covered terrace, a dog-friendly welcome and a games-equipped function room round out a proper community music pub.
