About This Open Mic
The Night
The Live Lounge is Cardiff's flagship live-music bar on The Friary — seven days a week of cover bands, duos and singers from midday to midnight, then DJs and sing-alongs until the early hours. It used to run a Sunday open mic afternoon, but that's long gone: the venue now books professional cover acts only, and the old open mic listing has been marked inactive since around 2021. Great for a big night of live music, but not a spot to grab a slot yourself.
About The Live Lounge Cardiff
The Live Lounge is one of Cardiff city centre's busiest live-music bars, at Unit 9 Queens West, The Friary (CF10 3FA). It runs live cover music seven days a week from midday until midnight — carefully sourced cover bands, duos and singers — before DJs take over with chart hits and sing-alongs until 4am. The room is adaptable, with tables cleared in the evening for a spacious dancefloor, and there's a full bar and restaurant serving pub grub, grills, burgers, pizza and pasta. It's a covers-and-party venue rather than an originals stage, but a reliable nightly stage for working musicians.
