Le Pub is a community-run grassroots live-music venue and vegan kitchen in the heart of Newport's High Street (NP20 1FW), trading since 1992. A compact, buzzing room, it hosts near-nightly gigs by up-and-coming punk, indie and alternative bands plus comedy and quiz nights. Its future was secured in January 2025 when the building was bought by Music Venue Properties to protect it as a grassroots venue. With a full backline and PA on site and a firmly original-music-first booking ethos, it's one of South Wales's most important small venues.

The Night
Le Pub (aka Le Public Space) is Newport's legendary DIY venue — a community-owned punk institution on High Street that has been the beating heart of the South Wales underground since 1992. Its open-stage night now runs as Le Plugged, a fully amplified jam night held every other Monday from 7pm, free entry, running through to 11pm. The venue supplies the lot — guitars, bass, a full drum kit, backline, synths and mics — so you can turn up empty-handed and plug straight in. It is pitched as much at meeting new bandmates and road-testing half-written songs as at solo turns, and all genres and backgrounds are welcome.
