The Night
The Snickleway Inn — a 15th-century, reputedly haunted pub on Goodramgate — runs a weekly open mic every Tuesday from 8pm, hosted by Alistair Lawrence. There's a house guitar and piano so you can travel light, and performers are stood a free drink for getting up. Cosy, traditional and one of York's most atmospheric spots for an acoustic turn.

The Snickleway Inn is a characterful 15th-century pub on Goodramgate in the heart of historic York — open fires, handpulled real ales and a reputation as one of Britain's most haunted pubs. It specialises in real ale, live music and good times, and runs a weekly open mic night every Tuesday from 8pm, hosted by Alistair Lawrence, with a house guitar and piano provided and a free drink for performers. The room holds around 80 and welcomes both originals and covers across mixed genres, making it a warm, atmospheric grassroots spot a short walk from the Minster.
