The ‌‌‍Eagle & Child is a Grade II* listed, timber-framed pub built in 1640 on High Petergate in the centre of York, in the shadow of York Minster. Spread over three floors, it offers spaces for groups large and small, with window seats looking out onto High Petergate. The pub serves homemade food and beers from Leeds Brewery, and it frequently programmes live music — most famously its weekly 'Steak & Jazz' nights every Thursday. It carries a slice of rock history too: the Rolling Stones reportedly hung out in the top-floor bar in the 1960s, leaving lipstick signatures still on the wall. Open Monday-Wednesday 11:00-23:00, Thursday-Saturday 11:00-00:00 and Sunday 11:00-22:30.
