The Night

The Golden Hind on Milton Road (CB4 1SP) is home to Cambridge Folk Club, which meets Friday nights at 8pm in the upstairs function room and runs an Open Stage on sporadic Fridays alongside its Showcase and Guest nights. Instruments are welcome, there's no need to book, and admission is free with donations encouraged — a warm, folk-leaning room that backs both local and touring acts. Check the club's programme for the next Open Stage date.

About Golden Hind

The Golden Hind is a Greene King pub and restaurant on Milton Road in north Cambridge, with a roughly 90-capacity room and an upstairs function space that doubles as a live-music venue. Its headline draw is the Cambridge Folk Club, the city's oldest folk club, which meets every Friday at 8pm presenting the best in new, local and national acoustic music. A six-figure refurbishment in 2025 added a brighter bar and dining area alongside sports viewing and live entertainment — bands, DJs and karaoke. With free parking, a full pub-food menu and a reliable in-house PA, it's a welcoming, unpretentious base for folk and acoustic acts in Cambridge.
