The Night
The Six Bells is a family-run traditional pub at 11 Covent Garden, a quiet side street in Cambridge's Petersfield neighbourhood just off Mill Road. Its open mic — billed as Sunday Sessions — runs on alternate Sunday evenings from 5pm, hosted by Josh Robins of local band The Mardlers. New performers are always welcome, and you're just as welcome to come along and simply listen without taking part.
More music at the Six Bells The open mic sits inside a genuinely busy acoustic calendar. Bluegrass musicians meet to play on the second Wednesday of every month, traditional Irish tunes get played, in the pub's own words, "whenever anyone arrives who would like to play", and there are live bands every Saturday night. There's also a Monday quiz at 8pm if you fancy a quieter warm-up earlier in the week.
Good to know It's a proper community local rather than a stage venue — an early-evening, folk-friendly session where acoustic acts fit right in. Starting from 5pm, it's one of the earlier Sunday open mics around, so you can play a few songs and still be home at a sensible hour.
