The GX Index is a monthly benchmark of UK live music booking rates, compiled from 4,036 approved observations across eight vetted sources, covering 13 cities, 7 use cases and 4 band sizes.

How often are reports published?

The GX Index is published monthly (typically around the 20th). Ad-hoc reports like the Musician Earnings deep-dive and the annual UK Live Music Yearbook are published on their own schedules.

Are GigXchange reports free?

Yes. All reports are free to read online and download as PDF. The underlying datasets are also published open-access on Kaggle and HuggingFace under CC BY 4.0.

Where does the booking rate data come from?

Rate observations are sourced from published UK agency rate cards and cross-referenced with Musicians’ Union recommended minimums. Each observation is commission-adjusted to a net fee basis.
