The Stand Comedy Club at 5 York Place in Edinburgh's New Town is a 150-capacity, purpose-built comedy club that has hosted live stand-up since 1998 and operates seven nights a week, year-round (and a flagship Fringe venue each August). Programming centres on weekend headline showcases, touring comedians, the Red Raw open-mic night for beginners and The Best of Scottish Comedy. The Night
The Stand Comedy Club, in an intimate basement just off St Andrew Square, runs Red Raw every Monday — Edinburgh's long-running weekly beginners' stand-up showcase and widely rated the best open mic comedy night in the UK. Up to ten new acts perform, some for the very first time, with seasoned hands occasionally dropping in to try new material. This is a comedy open mic, not a music night: new acts apply online via The Stand's website (applications open in set windows), and there's a small entry fee for the audience.
