The Safari Lounge is an African-safari-themed bar at 21 Cadzow Place in Edinburgh (EH7 5SN), reinvented in 2013 from the old Station Bar, with warm wood panelling, animal motifs and an open kitchen serving food at the front. It regularly hosts live music, DJ nights and comedy, and is the long-time home of 'Out of the Bedroom' — Edinburgh's longest-running open mic — which runs 8pm–11pm and welcomes original songwriters. Real ales lean Scottish with the odd English guest. Open Tue–Thu 16:00–23:30, Fri 14:00–01:00, Sat 12:00–01:00 and Sun 12:00–23:30 (closed Monday). A welcoming, original-music-friendly grass-roots room in the city's east end.

The Night
The Safari Lounge hosts 'Out of the Bedroom', billed as Edinburgh's longest-running open mic, held downstairs every fortnight on a Thursday from 8pm to 11pm. Entry is free, sign-up opens at 7:30pm, and there's a PA, a house guitar and a house keyboard to use — the focus is original material, so bring your own songs and stories. It's a warm, welcoming, all-are-welcome night (18+).
