Footlights is a sports bar and grill at 7-11 Spittal Street in Edinburgh's West End, sitting beneath the castle. Spread over two levels — bar, puggies and pool tables upstairs, larger tables down a few steps — it's a well-known live-music and stand-up comedy venue with acts on four to five times a week. Live music fills the evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, ranging across covers, folk and jazz, with a poker night on Mondays. The kitchen serves fresh homemade pub grub from 8.30am right through to 10pm, and the bar stays open until 1am daily. A relaxed, busy spot welcoming both originals and covers for Edinburgh's grassroots performers.
