The Night
The Ivy Lodge sits in the heart of Aberdeen's Shiprow Village and runs a weekly open mic every Thursday, 8pm to 11pm, in its upstairs bar, hosted by local legend Jim Rodden. It's an easy-going, everyone-welcome night - bring a guitar and your voice and join in for an evening of tunes and good vibes. The last Thursday of every month is a country-inspired edition, so dust off the Cash and the Parton.
Format
Turn up, tell the host you want to play and take your turn - no advance booking, free to enter. Slots run to roughly 12 minutes (two or three songs) depending on how many names go down.
Under-18s
The venue's own policy: under-18s are allowed on the premises until 9pm accompanied by a responsible adult, and after 6pm must be eating at one of the Shiprow Village street-food vendors. So a young performer can play an early slot with a parent, but the room is adults-only after 9pm.
