The Night
Under the Hammer is a basement bar off Aberdeen's Golden Square - a local institution of more than 40 years, refurbished and reopened by the McGinty's Group in November 2021 - and it runs an open mic every Tuesday from 8pm.
How the night runs
Around three songs, or the equivalent of 15 minutes, per performer. It is open to anyone who can play, recite or perform, not just musicians, and the night has been running in its current format long enough to have hosted national and international performers alongside the Aberdeen regulars. Bringing backing tracks? Message the bar beforehand.
