The Night

The Font is a lively, party-leaning bar tucked into Union Street in Brighton's South Lanes, set in a converted chapel, and it runs an open mic every Monday from 7pm right through to midnight. Just bring your voice and your instrument of choice and put your name down on the night — it's free, friendly and runs late. A reliable mid-week shout for Brighton performers.

About The Font

The Font occupies a former 17th-century chapel in Brighton's South Lanes, on Union Street — a striking two-tier space with a sweeping circular bar and original wooden pulpits overlooking the floor. Relaxed by day, it turns into a party bar at night with DJs, live sport, quiz nights and themed weekenders. Live music runs every Friday and Saturday from 9:45pm, with a rotating roster of local acts (Dessie Magee, MJ Reavey, Dave J Giles, Christian Cooley and Alfie among them), and there's karaoke every Thursday from 9pm till midnight. A central, lively grassroots music spot that programmes covers and original sets alike.
