Where the facts come from

The GigXchange AI connector answers from the same live directories as this site, read when you ask: 3,385 UK venues, 1,491 open mic listings, 9,987 gig listings and 6,033 real gig fees in the GX Index. Fees are GX Index medians, so a quote is a typical take-home, not a promise.

How the fee figures are built: the GX Index methodology. How the directories fit together, as open data: the knowledge graph.

GIGXCHANGE AI connector: FAQ

Short answers about the GigXchange AI connector: what it is, what it costs, whether you need an account and what the AI company sees. It reads 3,385 UK venues live, and each answer links to the detail.

It is a free way to ask ChatGPT, Claude or Codex about UK grassroots live music and get answers from GigXchange's live data. Under the hood it is an MCP server - Model Context Protocol, the open standard assistants use to look things up in other services. It searches gigs, open mics, venues, musician profiles and GX Index gig rates, and links every answer to its page.
GigXchange does. Add it from Claude's connector directory or ChatGPT's plugin directory and the assistant opens a GigXchange sign-in page: log in, read what it is asking for, and approve. From then on it can read your profile, calendar, bookings and invoice status. Every connection starts read-only. The step-by-step guide shows each screen.
No. Adding the connector is free, and so is a GigXchange account - there is no charge per question. Your ChatGPT or Claude plan is your own, with OpenAI or Anthropic. If you book an act and pay through GigXchange, the booker pays a 5% booking fee and the performer gets the full fee - see who pays the booking fee.
Usually, yes: when you connect GigXchange in Claude or ChatGPT, the assistant opens a GigXchange sign-in page (ChatGPT may only ask when it needs your account), and a free account covers it. The connector itself answers public questions about gigs, open mics, venues and gig rates without one, which developer tools that speak MCP can use directly. Connecting an AI assistant walks through each step.
Yes, the parts your assistant reads. When it looks something up, the answer goes to the assistant, so the company that runs it - Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT - receives that information under its own privacy terms. Your message contents are never shared. What your assistant can see lists every part, and our privacy policy covers the rest.
