Gosforth Civic Theatre is a grassroots music venue in Newcastle upon Tyne with a standing capacity of 325.
Listing notes
Gosforth Civic Theatre is a community arts venue on Regent Farm Road in Gosforth, north Newcastle, with a cafe bar, a garden and a busy programme of community activity. For musicians it has two useful rooms: the main Theatre, which takes up to 325 standing or 200 seated with a stage deck and in-house PA, and a 60-capacity Studio pitched for smaller gigs and acoustic sets.
The gig calendar is broad and leans towards touring roots, soul and left-field acts: Ibibio Sound Machine, Smoove & Turrell's Christmas show, Beans On Toast, Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton and Shonen Knife have all been booked, alongside tribute nights, comedy, family theatre and street food evenings.
The building is on one level with automatic, wheelchair-accessible entrances. Artists and promoters can hire the spaces for gigs and shows - the venue asks for your tech spec early so it can check the show works with the in-house kit.
