Listing notes
The Bridge Hotel has been home to the Bridge Folk Club since 1958, which makes it one of the longest-running folk nights in the country. The club meets every Monday evening and is built around a range of live folk singers, with everyone encouraged, but never forced, to join in.
The pub itself dates from around 1899 and is Grade II listed. It sits on Castle Garth, right next to the High Level Bridge at the Newcastle end.
The pub's owners, the Sir John Fitzgerald group, also describe it as known for an impressive programme of live entertainment.
