Pilgrim at 54 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle upon Tyne (NE1 6SF) is a 250-capacity live-music bar in the regenerated Pilgrim Quarter — the relaunch of the much-loved Hoochie Coochie space (open since 2011). It brings a packed programme of soul, funk, jazz and live music plus weekly club nights and world-famous guest DJs, and has hosted names from Sting and Chaka Khan to Craig Charles. The venue actively champions emerging artists and new music alongside touring acts. Open Friday to Sunday (closed Mon–Thu), with a speciality spirits, beer and cocktail bar when no live event is on.

The Night
Pilgrim is an award-winning bar on Pilgrim Street in the heart of Newcastle dedicated to music of black origin - soul, funk, jazz, disco, house and hip hop - with a live stage that hosts local, national and touring artists alongside resident DJs. Its open mic is Off The Hook, billed by the venue as 'open house, open mic, some very special performances', and it runs as an occasional Friday night rather than a fixed weekly slot.
Dates and format
The venue's own calendar lists Friday 28 August, Friday 30 October, Friday 27 November and (the exception) Monday 28 December 2026, doors 7:30pm, free entry, 18+. A guest list is offered by email via the venue's listing. Pilgrim also runs a free New Music Showcase every Monday 8pm to 11:45pm, a Thursday live salsa night and the Almost Heaven Saturday daytime session, so check the calendar before travelling.
