The Gladstone Arms - 'The Glad' - is an intimate, family-run pub at 64 Lant Street in Southwark, a stone's throw from Borough tube. Tiny but highly respected among musicians, it has been putting on great folk gigs for years and now runs live music every Tuesday and Sunday spanning folk, blues, pop and electronica, plus comedy and open-mic nights. There's an intimate beer-garden roof terrace and an upstairs lounge for private hire. Named after four-time Prime Minister William Gladstone, the pub dates to the nineteenth century and even gets a mention in Dickens's Pickwick Papers; it's one of very few London pubs to serve Indian food and features in CAMRA's book on desi pubs. About The Gladstone Arms

About This Open Mic
The Night
The Gladstone Arms ('The Glad') is an intimate, family-run live-music pub tucked away on Lant Street in Borough. Its open mic runs on the third Wednesday of each month from 7pm — a friendly, all-styles night with no backing tracks allowed and a few reserved slots set aside for poets and spoken-word artists. Alongside the open mic the pub packs in gigs, comedy and quizzes through the week, so it's a proper little music local.
