Ye Olde John O'Gaunt at 53 Market Street is a much-loved live-music pub in central Lancaster, housed in a handsome Victorian building dating from 1871 with a solid wood serving bar, a dedicated stage area and pubby decor throughout. It has run free live music every night of the week for many years, with well-attended open mic nights on Sundays and Mondays that are welcoming and encourage participation from all. The pub pours an extensive selection of real ales and spirits. Open 11am-11pm Monday to Saturday and 11am-10pm Sunday, with a house PA — both originals and covers welcome.
