The Golden Lion is a traditional historic pub at 33 Moor Lane in central Lancaster (LA1 1QD), famous locally as the spot where the Lancashire witches are said to have had their last drink before execution. It is one of the city's busiest grassroots music rooms, hosting live music several nights a week: Lancaster's longest-running open mic happens every Tuesday, the Lancaster Funk Club lands on Thursdays, and live bands fill out the rest of the week. The bar keeps six local and national cask ales (Cask Marque accredited), has a tuned piano on hand for performers, free Wi-Fi and a decked outdoor area, and is both child- and dog-friendly. Around 90 standing, it welcomes originals and covers across rock, funk, indie and acoustic.
