About the night

Ouse ‌‌‍Muse is Bedford's long-running poetry and spoken-word open mic, now hosted inside The Eagle Bookshop on St Peters Street. It runs monthly on a Tuesday evening, with the shop doors opening at 19:45 for an 8 o'clock start. Anyone with poetry or very short prose can read from the open floor, and the night usually opens with an invited guest poet. Entry is 5 pounds paid on arrival and no booking is needed.

The ‌‌‍Eagle Bookshop is an independent second-hand and new bookshop on St Peters Street in Bedford, a few minutes walk north of the town centre. Its event space hosts book launches and poetry evenings rather than amplified gigs. It is the current home of the Ouse Muse poetry open mic and of other local literary nights.
