About This Open Mic
The Night
The White Bear on Church Street is a warm, family-friendly pub with a beer garden and a genuine love of live music. Its open mic runs fortnightly on Thursdays from 8pm through to quarter-to-midnight — free to play, free to watch, and with free pizza and beers laid on for the top act of the night. A proper grass-roots Barnsley night that started in March 2025 and runs on alternate Thursdays.
About The White Bear
The White Bear is a town-centre pub at 11 Church Street in the heart of Barnsley (S70 2AH), with a warm, family-friendly feel, a beer garden and a menu of pub classics. It has carved out a niche on the local heavy-music scene: live bands play every Wednesday, with a punk, hardcore and metal leaning, while DJs take over Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7pm till late. A Thursday quiz (7.30pm) and big-screen Sky/TNT Sports round out the week. A genuine grassroots room for loud originals and covers. Phone 01226 203658.
