The Night
The Continental is one of Preston's best-loved indie venues on South Meadow Lane, and its open mic lands on the first Thursday of every month. Hosted by Typhaine & Colin, it's an all-comers night — you can sing, play guitar, try stand-up or read spoken word — so it draws a genuinely mixed, welcoming crowd. About New Continental
The Continental is a CAMRA award-winning pub, restaurant and live-music venue in an idyllic riverside spot on South Meadow Lane, Preston (PR1 8JP), just out of the town centre with a garden by the river. It serves British food and real ales and is home to live music and arts space The Boatyard, with an 'all genres' policy programmed by Rob Talbot — frequently drawing sell-out crowds. The events space, fitted with a fifteen-foot cinema screen, hosts gigs, films, plays, comedy, world music and improvised jazz, plus the now-legendary Continental Beer Festival. Capacity around 200.
