The Night
North Terrace is an all-day eating-and-drinking social space on Claremont Road near Newcastle's city centre, with an ever-changing events programme, and its open mic runs every Monday from 8pm. The venue is proud of it — it has featured in Newcastle's top 10 open mic nights — so expect a friendly, well-run room. It's free to play and free to watch.
Sign-up process
Just turn up on the night and ask to play. The night is hosted by Neil Gibson, who will accompany you on guitar if you'd like him to and he knows the song.
The room
The open mic is held downstairs, on the raised area to the right of the bar. It's a deliberately low-key set-up — they dim the lights, which makes for a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
Backline
The house kit covers amps, PA, microphone, guitar and other acoustic instruments, so you can turn up empty-handed if you need to.
