The Pilgrim is a Liverpool institution tucked into an 18th-century former warehouse on Pilgrim Street in the city's Georgian quarter, and for over four decades it has been a haunt for the city's artists, musicians, students and bohemians. The long cellar bar — 1950s-style booth seating, a jukebox and a sun-trap courtyard out back — runs a weekly music open mic night (every Thursday from 7pm), giving emerging local talent a low-pressure stage for both originals and covers. Open seven days a week from midday till late, it is an unpretentious grassroots spot rather than a ticketed gig room: a PA is provided and the atmosphere is famously welcoming to first-timers.
