The Old England is a Guerrilla Pubs live-music venue in Bristol's Montpelier (43 Bath Buildings, BS6 5PT), distilling the area's indie spirit. It packs a full week of gigs — live indie, punk, art-punk, experimental jazz, open mics, jam sessions and the odd late-night DJ set — in shows that tend to be sweaty and raucous. A house PA backs performers and both originals and covers are welcome. Beyond the stage there's a big beer garden, pool, board games and, reputedly, the only pub cricket practice nets in the country.
