The Star is a historic, traditional freehouse at 539 Fishponds Road, Fishponds, Bristol (BS16 3AF), under newer Irish ownership and run with a strong community ethos. It puts on a varied, eclectic range of live music — aiming to give Fishponds an alternative type of music venue — with a regular Irish traditional session every Wednesday from 8:30pm, plus quality touring bands and a deliberate push to give young, up-and-coming local acts a stage. The pub pours award-winning real ales (including Nailsworth Brewery), and has restored its original skittle alley for parties alongside a championship pool table and darts.
