Cafe Kino is a worker-owned vegan co-operative cafe on Stokes Croft, Bristol, with an affordable basement event space at the heart of the city's DIY scene. The downstairs room holds 65 standing or 30 seated, comes with a PA and an in-house engineer, and every event finishes by 10pm when the cafe closes. It hosts something most nights — DIY punk, hardcore, alt-folk and experimental gigs, arts workshops and avant-garde film screenings — with local artists' work on the walls. A genuine grassroots community venue rather than a single-genre room.
