About The Phipps
The Phipps (formerly the Sir Pickering Phipps) is a Wellingborough Road local in Northampton that reopened in December 2024 after a £350,000 refurbishment, returning with a sleek new bar and a programme built squarely around live entertainment. From 7pm every weekend the pub puts on local DJs, live bands and acoustic artists with crowd-singalong anthems, while midweek leans on open mic nights, quizzes and community events. It is a friendly, dog- and child-welcoming pub with a garden, real ale and craft beer, big-screen sport and a kitchen running premium sharing plates and Sunday roasts. With a modest standing capacity (around 70 in the music space) it sits firmly in the grassroots, give-it-some-welly bracket, equally happy hosting a covers band on a Saturday or first-timers on a midweek open mic.
