Filthy's runs its self-styled 'world renowned' open mic every Tuesday, with a deliberately late 10pm start at the top of the Bigg Market and the room going through to 2am. Hosted by local musician Connor Pattison, it's a competitive night — £100 cash to the winner and a £25 bar tab for second — but the welcome is warm: every musician who plays gets a free pint. There's no advance sign-up; turn up, put your name down and wait your turn. A loud, Geordie crowd that wants you to do well. Free entry, PA and in-house sound provided.
