Listing notes
The Embankment opened in 1907 as a Boots pharmacy and later became the Boots social club. It is a Grade II listed building designed by Albert Nelson Bromley, restored in 2015 and now a Castle Rock pub made up of eight distinct areas on Arkwright Street.
Music runs on a monthly pattern: the Underground Blues Night on the last Monday of the month and the OWD Boots Social Acoustic Night, a folk night with open mic sessions, on the second Tuesday, both from 7pm with free entry. Band gigs are added through the year, such as indie punk covers from Swollen.
