The National Bowl is a 65,000-capacity open-air concert amphitheatre in south-central Milton Keynes, at the junction of Watling Street and Chaffron Way just north of Bletchley. Built on a former clay pit landscaped into a natural grass bowl, it opened in 1979 (Desmond Dekker, Geno Washington) and was re-branded with a massive permanent sound stage in 1992. One of the UK's premier large-scale outdoor gig sites, it has hosted Michael Jackson, Green Day, Marillion and, more recently, major touring headliners across rock, pop and afrobeats such as Burna Boy. A seated-free, festival-scale outdoor stadium rather than a grassroots room.
