Ye Olde Dolphin Inne on Queen Street claims to be Derby's oldest pub, with its licence said to date from 1580, and it hosts live music four nights a week, Wednesday to Saturday, plus Sunday afternoons in the warmer months.
The late 16th-century building holds four small bars grouped around a central servery, including a panelled snug with fires in winter and a lounge with a large inglenook fireplace. Much of the interior comes from an inter-war restoration, and CAMRA rates it a pub interior of outstanding national historic importance.
There are quizzes on Tuesdays and Sundays, a large outside drinking area out the back, and an upstairs steak restaurant open Thursday to Saturday evenings. It sits in the Cathedral Quarter on Derby's real ale circuit.
