The Old Windmill on Spon Street has been open for a pint since 1451, and calls itself Coventry's oldest remaining original pub. The medieval building rambles across several rooms, including a former brewhouse and a room with a stove in a large old fireplace beside a priest-hole.
Music is woven into the pub's calendar. Folk players gather on Sunday afternoons, live music generally runs on the middle two Fridays of the month, and bluegrass comes round once a month. Recent bills include Rhythm and Rhyme, a jazz and poetry night, and evenings with pianist Chris Beahan.
The pub also hosts two beer festivals a year, cheese nights and wine and whisky tastings, and is a former local CAMRA Pub of the Year.
