The Music Workshop is a dedicated live-music venue and community space at 1B Town Walk in central Folkestone, Kent (CT20 2AD). Billed as 'Folkestone's home for live music and community events', it runs classes, workshops, jam sessions, karaoke and regular gigs open to all levels, and books touring and local artists across a wide range of genres — previous guests include Annie Whitehead, Poppy Prescott, Malcura, Chloe Slater and Hannah White. The stage has a house PA with full backline and an in-house engineer, plus the biggest indoor screen in town for its Friday-night karaoke (from 7pm) with cocktails and pizza. As a purpose-run music venue rather than a pub, it strongly welcomes original artists alongside covers — one of Folkestone's key grassroots stages.

About The Music Workshop

About This Open Mic
The Night
The Music Workshop on Cheriton Place is a proper little live-music venue with a cafe, a stage and a room full of gear - but the beginner-friendly Folkestone First Timers open mic that used to run here on Friday evenings appears to have ended. The First Timers website is now offline (both the event page and the site root return 404), and the venue's own gig guide lists no open mic at all: the recurring fixtures are the Folkestone Singing Club on Tuesdays at 10am, Neighbourhood Choir rehearsals every Monday at 7pm, karaoke on Saturdays at 7pm and the Smashed Hits music quiz on Fridays at 7pm, alongside monthly writer's rounds, musical bingo and a Sunday jam night. The venue still keeps acoustic drums, acoustic and electric guitars, a bass and bass amp, piano, microphones and a full PA on site, so if an open mic returns here it will be one of the best-equipped rooms in Kent - but there's no open stage to send performers to today.
