The Star Inn, known as the Star on the Cliff, is a small early-Victorian three-room pub tucked down Back Hope Street in Higher Broughton, Salford, serving since 1846. In 2009 it became the first pub in the country to be bought and run by its own regulars, and it remains co-operatively owned with its own brewery. The Star Inn Folk Club, an open mic for singers and poets, has run on the first Wednesday of the month for around ten years. The pub also runs a monthly quiz, community events and beer festivals.
