Bolton Socialist Club is a members club on Wood Street in Bolton town centre, often known simply as Wood Street. It is the oldest surviving independent socialist club in the country and doubles as a small grassroots gig and spoken-word room. It hosts touring folk and singer-songwriter acts, theatre and community events. Its monthly Sunday Write Out Loud evening is an open mic with around 14 slots, doors at 7pm for a 7.30pm start and 2 GBP entry.
