The Shipping Forecast is a much-loved bar and live-music venue at 15 Slater Street in Liverpool's Ropewalks (L1 4BW). It spreads across several spaces: a main bar floor for craft beer, food, sport, quizzes and Sunday roasts; a mezzanine 'Top Deck' hired out for private functions, art exhibitions and screenings; and an intimate, brick-walled basement called 'The Hold' that's the heart of its music programme — on-the-up bands, DJs and club nights. Open daily from noon (until 1am Friday and Saturday), it's a cornerstone of the Slater Street grassroots circuit. Listed as a music venue on Gigseekr and CAMRA.

About The Shipping Forecast

About This Open Mic
The Night
The Shipping Forecast runs a regular open mic downstairs in The Hold, the industrial-chic basement under this Ropewalks bar on Slater Street. Hosted by comedian and campfire guitarist Tom Evans, it's an everyone-welcome night — musicians, comedians and poets all share the same stage, with a professional sound engineer on the PA and famously good basement acoustics. Tuesday evenings from around 7:30pm; reserve a slot via the venue's Eventbrite listing, and there are usually a few prizes up for grabs.
What's on stage — equipment and backline at this venue, verified regularly.
