The Hop Wakefield was Ossett Brewery's first live-music venue, founded in 2008 by Jamie Lawson and sitting at the bottom of Bank Street (WF1 1EH), five minutes' walk from Wakefield Westgate station. It runs two stages and a packed live programme — acoustic music every Monday, full bands and local cover acts every Friday and Saturday — backed by real ale, a bare-brick snug with a real fire, and a grand beer garden in its own private courtyard. With over 50 years of brewing and 35 years of music-industry experience behind it, it's a cornerstone of the city's grassroots scene.

About The Hop

About This Open Mic
The Night
The Hop on Bank Street is Ossett Brewery's original live-music pub (opened 2008), blending real ale with a genuine gig-room atmosphere. The old 'Open Mic with Ryan & Ruby' is presumed to have stopped — the last reliable listing is around a decade old — and the pub's current live-music calendar is built around a Friday Acoustic Showcase, weekend cover bands and Saturday DJ nights rather than an open mic. Check their listings for the Friday acoustic slot if you're after a stage.
