The Wardrobe is one of Leeds' longest-established independent music venues, open since 1999 at 6 St Peter's Square (LS9 8AH) in the city centre's cultural quarter. It hosts over 250 live shows a year across two stages — an almost nightly showcase of jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop and reggae, the bulk of them free entry. Upstairs is a bar, kitchen and occasional event space; downstairs is a dark, intimate basement club with the feel of a smoky New York jazz room. Past acts run from Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey Rae to Robert Glasper, Soweto Kinch and The Bad Plus, underlining its weight as a serious live-music room rather than a casual pub gig.
