Cafe INDIE is a co-operative coffee and music house on Scunthorpe High Street, run as a community cafe and youth-led arts venue. By day it is a cafe and coffee bar serving fresh food, and by night it becomes an arts venue hosting local and touring bands, film screenings and spoken word nights. It champions employability for disadvantaged young people through volunteering, creativity and social impact. It is one of North Lincolnshire's main grassroots original-music rooms.

The Night
Speak Out Scunny is a spoken word open mic at Cafe INDIE, usually held on the third Thursday of the month. Doors open at 6.30pm for coffee, cake and conversation, with the open mic itself starting at around 7.30pm. Slots of up to five minutes are open to anyone regardless of experience, and poetry, prose, comedy, monologues and sketches are all welcome. No booking is needed, just turn up and ask for a slot. Entry is free and it is free to perform. Pattern: usually the third Thursday of the month.
