Listing notes
Floral Hall opened on Hornsea's Esplanade in July 1913, with a concert by the council orchestra. Built of cast iron and steel with a glass roof, it was modelled on the pavilion at Scarborough, on a smaller scale.
In the 1960s, 70s and 80s the hall hosted bands and artists including The Searchers, Dexys Midnight Runners and the Bay City Rollers. When the council planned to demolish it, there were large protests, and the hall was sold to the community for one pound. It is now a charity, run by volunteers.
Today it is a multi-purpose hall with a licensed cafe, and it can be hired for many different uses. Live music includes touring tribute shows, alongside a comedy club, a cinema and fairs. The hall points people to its Facebook page for upcoming events.
